Hi all
I want to control the Windows Media Player version 10 from within an Office
XP application such as Microsoft Access or Microsoft Excel using Visual Basic
for Applications or directly from a stand-alone program written in Visual
Basic.
What I want to do is fancy stuff such as play from a locally created
playlist. Or copy or edit items in the Windows Media Player library database,
or clean-up the Windows Media Player database from help from another
application rather than searching, clicking, and manually editing the Windows
Media Player own proprietary database.
(For example, I had Media Player load all the MP3s I had in my MY MUSIC
folder. Then I moved that folder to another drive because of space
considerations. I re-loaded the new MY MUSIC folder. Now I have duplicate
entries for 500 songs in its library. Doing this de-duping by hand is a big
chore but I could write a script in Visual Basic to take care of this in no
time.)
I went to the
www.microsoft.com website under Windows XP and found the
version 10 development kit. But it is written, explained, and all of it is
explained in the C language which whomever in Microsoft who uploaded this
information to the
www.microsoft.come site seems to favor when they put this
stuff together. I'm not familiar with C in the least. I'm a hardcore Visual
Basic guy. (smile)
Does anyone know how I can control Windows Media Player functions and edit
its database under VB or VBA, or could point me in the right direction for
solutions?
Thanks!!
