| Dear IT professionals from Microsoft and elsewhere : I am interested in participating in your Window Vista (Beta 2) program and to provide useful feedback after testing the new OS. However, I am currently using Window XP (Home) edition. If I install Vista by using a DVD, I will loose my genuine version of Window XP. After the expiry date of Vista on 1.6.2007, can I still use my PC as usual ? or will I have to reinstall back my Window XP ? The process of reinstalling is troublesome and I do not know if I will encounter any problem when I do it again. I would appreciate very much if Microsoft could update my expired Window Vista (Beta) automatically on 1.6.2007 to its original Window XP (Home) Edition. If this is done by Microsoft it would guarantee trouble free installation. I would like to suggest that alternatively allow the user to use the Vista with some important features removed but still could function as good or slightly better than the original Window XP (Home) Edition. Also may I know if Microsoft provide updates for the Window Vista (Beta 2) and its supportive software such as MS Office 2007 during the course of this program? This could avoid the user’s from unable to use his or her PC if a major problem occur in this program . I would be glad to receive replies from knowledgeable people before I could embark on this innovative program. Kind Regards lsk2141 -- A36B58K641 | Guest

boot installation if you have a free NTFS partition of 20+ GB on your HDD. Read more postings in these news groups and the articles on e.g. <http://www.microsoft.com/technet/windowsvista/default.mspx> before embarking... BTW - A nice idea, to update Vista to XP Home, isn't it:-) Roy | Guest

| You can do what I did... Create a new partition, with Partition Magic or any other software. Install there vista and it will automatically double boot ![]() and you can keep your xp also.. that is the wiser thing to do.. | Dear Roy and friends, Thanks you very much for provide me with useful information promptly. I will stick to your advise of not touching my Window XP. I will also not embarking on the Beta Projects for Windows Vista as I haver very limited knowledge of how to manipulate with my hard disk. If i tried it unproffessionally, I will destroy the good working condition of my PC. I will only emabartk on this program when Microsoft can come up with a more user friendly project that can gaurantee smooth switching from new and old OS. Anyway Window XP support the Office 2007 (Beta) software program that I have already downloaded. Many thanks again, Have a nice day.
