can no longer put username:password@website in address box

After installing XP Pro, I can no longer access secure websites by using
usernameassword@website in the address box. I have checked all my
settings, but I don't see anythng that affects this. Can somebody help,
please?

That's Microsoft's latest patch for IE (released last week) to prevent the
'phishing' scam where a URL can be hidden after the @; the update page does
warn that the functionality is removed by the patch.
