Can record to CDRW not CDR

Posted: 08-06-2003, 06:14 PM
Hi,
I have an Artec wrr4848 CDRW. I am running Win XP Pro. I
am able to burn audio or data to cdrw disks but nothing on
cdr disks. I have tried using various software and
different media but each time it has failed if I am using
cdr disks.
The programme I am using at the moment is Easy CD Creator
6 and when burning a cdr I get a buffer under-run error
message even though buffer under-run prevention is checked
and leaving it to the programme to select the best speed
etc. The slowest speed I can select manually is 8x but
frequently when burning to cdr it drops to 1x or .9x, in
other words less than 1x and then the error message comes
up. This happens regardless of whether I am trying to burn
a data cd or audio also if I try to copy just a couple of
files or copy a whole cd.
The writer is listed as being compatible with Win XP and
Easy CD Creator 6 and as far as I know I am using the
latest firmware.
I am at a loss to know why I can burn anything to a cdrw
disk but nothing to cdr disks.
On the occasions when it says the cdr disk was
successfully completed, I have put it in the cd rom drive
and it just runs for ages before stopping and
then 'properties' show it as empty. If I then try to use
it again, I am told that it is not a blank disk.
I have done all the usual things, closing all other
running applications etc and uninstalling any other
burning software.
Anyone any ideas please.
Regards,
Brian

Try turning off XP's built in
burning Brian. Go to control panel
Admin Tools/Services/Imapi CD burning
(disable it). Reboot.

CD Creator 6 works fine. I use it here
no probs at all. See how you go.
If copying to CD, try formatting it
first if its a CDR. With CD Creator.
