Can someone recommend: Virtual CD creator software to customize XP?

Posted: 09-06-2003, 03:26 PM
Am trying out http://www.virtualcd-online.com/default_e.htm and was
wondering if anyone can recommend a better program that they have used
that will allow me to copy my CDs/DVDs so I can prolong the life of
them?
Thanks

The hottest software fad going today is DVD copying. I'm going to
give you some links. There's going to be a lot to learn - give yourself
some time.

newsgroup: alt.video.dvd.software (join and read/ask questions)

Web Links:
http://www.doom9.org/
http://www.sirscrub.com/where_to.htm
http://www.cdmediaworld.com/hardware...cd_utils.shtml

Google search for copy DVD & DVD tutorial ...

Good luck. I've spent the last 3 weeks immersed in this subject, and
barely have scratched the surface. I have successfully copied some
DVD's. Two programs that worked best for me are DVD2SVCD and TMPGEnc.
Your mileage may vary.

Thanks for the tips - I am rather looking for a "virtual" program where
I can insert virtual CDs/DVDs for playback instead of using the real
one. Want to save wear and tear on the player and discs.Other ideas?

I use a few different ones. The best one to date is
VirtualCD by FarStone
(http://www.farstone.com/home/en/shtml/vdpoverview.shtml)
$40 for the personal version (Works with XP - Free trial
version available)

SNIP:
VirtualDrive does two basic things: (1) It can copy an
entire CD/DVD into a single, compressed disk-image file
that resides on your hard drive, and (2) It contains a
driver that fools Windows into treating the disk-image
file as if it were a physical CD/DVD running in a
physical CD/DVD drive.
