Default Cannot access C: root directory on Vista computer from xp computer

I am able to share individual folders and devices on my Vista Computer which
I can access from my XP computer, however when I share the entire C: root
directory on the Vista computer and set permissions to access all, my windows
XP computer will not access the C: drive on Vista, it gives me a message that
I do not
have authorization to access the C: share.
I have done everything that I can possible think of, I have worked on this
problem
for two days without any success...
Can any one offer any suggestions?

Default Cannot access C: root directory on Vista computer from XP computer

I have successfully shared various folders, files and external drives
connected to
my Vista Computer, which I able to access with no problems from my windows
XP computer; however I have tried to share the C: root directory on the Vista
computer
and given all permissions for access, but when I try to access it from my XP
computer it will give me an error message stating that I do not have
permission to access the C: share. I have tried everything I could think of
for two days..
Can anyone help me with this problem?

You will need to be more specific.

How did you attempt to access the C: on Vista from a XP box?

I attempted to connect to the C: drive on my Vista machine by clicking
on it's listing in the MSHOME listing of Explorer.

I can access Public files on the Vista machine but not gain access to
the C: drive and select any folder from there.

you will need to set C: on Vista as a shared folder before anyone can access
it. however, it is generally not advisable to share the root directories.
