| I have successfully shared various folders, files and external drives connected to my Vista Computer, which I able to access with no problems from my windows XP computer; however I have tried to share the C: root directory on the Vista computer and given all permissions for access, but when I try to access it from my XP computer it will give me an error message stating that I do not have permission to access the C: share. I have tried everything I could think of for two days.. Can anyone help me with this problem? -- FJS | Guest

| do not know if this fits your situation, but if you install vista by booting from DVD, it installs it as "C". regardless of your choice of partitions. if this fits your case, it is possible "C" is trying to share "C" mikeyhsd@sport.rr.com "fs0002" <fs0002@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:CA13B374-F456-469C-87C1-354DEBA1FECF@microsoft.com... | I don't fully understand what you are saying, however I did a new install from windows XP, I did not have to boot from the DVD to install on C: which contains my system files. -- FJS "mikeyhsd" wrote: Quote:

| what happens, if you install by booting from DVD, vista installs itself on drive letter named "C". if you install from another OS, not dvd, then the drive letter of the selected partition is used instead. mikeyhsd@sport.rr.com "fs0002" <fs0002@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:B5DB72B8-5A7E-4355-AF15-2F86F00286D8@microsoft.com...
