| I installed the latest XP updates from the web. Jet 4.0 XP SP1 DirectX 9.0 NVIDA Display Windows Error Reporting Since doing so, I can no longer link to network drives. I can ping the server if I use the IP, but not if is use the server name. Also, I cannot connect to my database (which also uses a name instead of an IP). I can connect to the server from other machines. I can connect to the internet from my XP box as well. I have looked at/checked every setting I can think of. What is wrong? | Guest

| The problem is with XP SP1. Not totally sure how to correct minus un-installing the SP. Sorry I could not be or more help...but at least you have a starting point. mega me, Bobby Quote:

| Since it sounds like the servers are internal they should be using WINS for name resolution. Verify that you have a WINS server and DNS server listed when you type "ipconfig" at the command prompt. DNS can be tested via "NSLOOKUP" and WINS can be tested via "nbtstat -a server_name". Bruce Quote:
