Default Cannot access network

I installed the latest XP updates from the web.

Jet 4.0
XP SP1
DirectX 9.0
NVIDA Display
Windows Error Reporting

Since doing so, I can no longer link to network drives. I
can ping the server if I use the IP, but not if is use the
server name. Also, I cannot connect to my database (which
also uses a name instead of an IP). I can connect to the
server from other machines. I can connect to the internet
from my XP box as well.

I have looked at/checked every setting I can think of.
What is wrong?

The problem is with XP SP1. Not totally sure how to
correct minus un-installing the SP. Sorry I could not be
or more help...but at least you have a starting point.

Since it sounds like the servers are internal they should
be using WINS for name resolution. Verify that you have
a WINS server and DNS server listed when you
type "ipconfig" at the command prompt. DNS can be tested
via "NSLOOKUP" and WINS can be tested via "nbtstat -a
server_name".
