Cannot Connect to any Websites

Posted: 10-19-2006, 06:35 PM
I am running windows vista RC1 build 5600 32 bit, with IE7+ v7.0.5600.16384

I can connect to msn messenger, gmail notifier, weathereye, and I am
currently sending this from another computer on the same network.

I have tryed also running firefox and cannot connect to sites through it
either.

However i have been able to connect to sites through a browser integrated
with bitcomet.

I have tryed many of the fixes listed here and on the internet explorer
group, but nothing has worked, I have upgraded my router's firmware, I have
reset the settings on the advanced tab, and I have run Internet explorer with
add-ons disabled, but still I cannot connect to any websites.

If there is no way to fix this is there a way to uninstall IE7 from Vista,
and install IE6?

Hi,

This is a known issue with Marvel Yukon network adapters. While there are
several solutions, the easiest is to install XP drivers over the Vista ones.

BTW, no you cannot remove IE7 and install IE6 instead.

I am not using a Marvel Yukon network adapter, as far as I know. I am using
a Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC, its driver's file name is
Rtnicxp.sys. On the same computer I also have a Broadcom 802.11g Network
Adapter, its driver's file name is BCMWL6.SYS

Hi,

First, try the other adapter. Otherwise, check with the manufacturer for
updated driver files, or try an XP compatible file.

Hi,

Motherboard manufacturer's site is the best if it's an onboard nic,
otherwise the site of the device manufacturer.

Realtek: http://www.realtek.com.tw/
Broadcom: http://www.broadcom.com/support/
