Cannot connect wireless printer to network

Posted: 05-28-2005, 11:35 PM
I have an HP 5850 Wireless printer. Suddenly several weeks ago, I began
having problems connecting the printer to the network. I beleive the problem
began after an automatic windows update, but I can't say for certain. If I
try to install the printer wireless, I get a message indicating the printer
cannot be found. If I connect an ethernet cable, I can eventually get the
system to find the printer, but I get the following message: "PRINTER NOT
SUPPORTED - The selected printer is not supported by the printing system.
Continue anyway YES NO". If I select yes, the printer seems to install
without any issues. However, you cannot print anything. You send a job to
the printer and after several minutes you get a message telling you the job
failed to print.

Anyone with any ideas how to correct the problem? I like HP products, but
for this issue HP Support has been useless.

Thanks for any assistance.
