Cannot display in DVI mode/cannot go above 1024x768 resolution

Posted: 01-12-2009, 06:56 PM

I have a 24 inch widescreen, and I know its native resolution is NO
1024x768. I'm using an 8800 GTS with the latest drivers (I checked).
Nothing is displayed in DVI mode, and I can't put my monitor on it
native resolution. Can anyone help

Did you install the manufacturer's driver for whatever model monitor it
is? An MS generic display driver might not properly detect all the
available display modes. DVI isn't a mode so much as an interface type.
Analog VGA would have the same range of resolutions available, more or less.

I have a 8500GT on a Vista HP 32 bit SP1 system and recent current driver
for my graphics adapter from the Nvidia Website. I also have have a 22" LCD
1680x1050. monitor My system also uses the generic MS display driver. I
can run my display in its native resolution using either its VGA or DVI
interface.

I'm sorry, I should've gone into more detail. Yes, I got the lates
monitor driver from the samsung website, as well.

Either way, I've ordered a T240, I figure it must be a hardwar
problem. I've spent long enough on this, I'm no slouch when it comes t
computers but this has frustrated me enough. If the replacemen
monitor/cable don't do it, I'm doing the video card next. I hope i
doesn't come to that.

I'll still appreciate any help you guys can offer, as I'd like t
either dual-screen or sell off my current monitor. Thanks
