| Ok heres my predicament.. This all started a few days ago when I was doing some web updates and direct play somehow got corrupt. Sooooo tonight I was taking the time to check my registry against my other machine that it was working fine on when I did a very bad no no. I exported the registry to a file to have a backup just in case something happened on other machine... Then I imported the registry from my working machine into other pc. I tried to just print the registry keys but it wanted to print 250 pages so I cancelled that.. It stopped responding then computer hosed. Did a cold reboot and now what i get is a vicious reboot cycle that never stops. I tried all the options from safe mode command prompt only to last known and I never even get the splash screen.. It always reboots when trying to go to splash screen. The good machine has different equipment in it than the one i was working on.. IE good one is intel/P4 and other is AMD 2500 so different hardware drivers... I can get into recovery console but cant really do anything on restoring a registry from there. Also it always gives me access denied when I try to go into document and settings folder where I made the backup file of my good registry. Is there any way to restore the good registry in this predicament? Can I just start turning off services with recovery console until I can get the machine to boot up in safe mode to run regedit? Also If I need to reload lemme ask this question. I loaded with NTFS so no way to go get the file but heres the question. If I reload to base state can I import the registry that was saved and it restore the state before I messed with importing another registry from another machine. I hope so otherwise I have to spend another 3 days getting the machine back to where it was. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh also I used to run a proggie caller ERD commander in win nt 4 is there something like this for xp besides recovery console and no I didnt make a ASR backup set. | Guest
