it, a burnt CD will not play on home audio equipment. If this is the case, you can go back into your burning software and close the disk. By default, the burning software I've used is set by default to close the disk when set to burn an "audio CD." You did burn an "audio" CD, I'm assuming- a "data" CD full of mp3 files will play on your computer but not on most home CD players. The other possibility is that your home CD player just doesn't deal very well with CD-R media. Many don't- even players that are only a couple of years old, as I've experienced personally. Try the CD on a different player to see if it will play there. Regards, Ian. | Guest

| Ian, I'm having the same problem mwm is. I created the audio cd with the wpm copy to cd function. I can't find an option in WPM to "close" the cd. Do you know where it is ? Steve Quote:

You know, I don't think I've ever actually used WMP to burn a CD. I've always used MusicMatch Jukebox, EasyCD Creator and now the retail version of Nero. But I just had a look in the WMP Help files, and it looks like WMP does the "close CD" thing automatically. From the "Creating your own CDs" section: "Complete. The CD is not finished until Complete is displayed in the Status column for each track. When the last track is copied, Closing disc is displayed briefly for the last track." You might be experiencing the same problem I had at first with my then-new Technics CD player- it just wouldn't play CD-R discs properly. I must have thrown a good dozen discs in the garbage back then, figuring that they were useless, before I finally realized it was the player that was causing the problem as opposed to the way I'd created my CDs. Maybe try playing your CD on a friend's CD player to see if that works. I'm sorry I couldn't be more helpful regarding WMP specifically. EasyCD or Nero must have come bundled with your CD burner though, and I've always found them to be easy to use and effective. You might want to try that software instead of Media Player for burning CDs, but it's not really clear that WMP is to blame in this case. Regards, Ian. | Guest
