cannot play CD's in media player

Help I'm having trouble playing music CD's in media player.
An error message keeps coming up that the disk cannot be
read in digital mode, and needs to be switched to analog.
But, what my question is on how to fix this problem? I
can't seem to be able to manualy switch to analog. Please
help me.
