Cannot share a folder on C: drive

Posted: 04-15-2007, 07:15 PM
Hi, I am just setting up VISTA Ultimate. I have the OS and all programme
files on drive C:. I have 2 other partitions (D: and I on the same
physical drive as C:

I can share folders on D: and I: with no problem. I cannot share folers on
C: (with the exception of PUBLIC).

Is this a "Security Feature", or am I missing something simple?

Barry

Hi barry,

I also incountered this, I found if right clicked on the folder and selected
share, it didn't stick and share. This is what I did:

Right click the folder, then select properties. Select the sharing tab,
then select the advanced sharing. Then put a tick in the share this folder
box, and apply.

It then shared that folder.

Thanks, I have the problem half solved! I cannot share any folders on C:
created by the system (e.g. program files), however I can share subfolders
of these folders using the method described below. Don't you just love
simplicity and consistency!!

Anyone know how to share a folder created by the system ?

I have the same problem, but that doesn't work for me.

I get the message "An error occurred while trying to share [foldername].
Access is denied. The shared resource was not created at this time."

Why is Vista so stupid and complicated? I didn't change anything and now it
is locking me out of my own folders.
