The best way to eliminate this type of aggravation is to use a USB Memory Card Reader. It will be recognized as a Removable Disk and the pictures/ movie clips can be copied/pasted to the folder of your choice. Maybe the following article will offer something useful: Downloading pictures from your digital camera http://tinyurl.com/8z2mn or... http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u.../transfer.mspx -- John Inzer Digital Media MVP Notice This is not tech support I am a volunteer Solutions that work for me may not work for you Proceed at your own risk | Guest

are or have been connected to your pc: USBdeview: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html (I notice they now have similar progs for keeping track of wireless and bluetooth too.) I found it very helpful in trying to diagnose why my pc would recognise a usb wireless adaptor, but laptop only did it for a few days and then stopped. USB connections do seem to be rather temperamental, especially when there is software on the device that has to be started and stopped properly. With our canon I deleted all the canon software from the pc in the end, and just get at what is on the camera via My Computer (The camera does not show up in the notification area as a usb device, just as a drive in MC) (Do have a look at that usbdeview: you may be surprised at all the stuff that has been connected at one time or another!) Devices like mouse, flash memory, etc nearly always work without drivers, but I've yet to see a camera that did so. Some devices require that you install the drivers *before* you plug the device in. Some are so insistent on this that it seems likely that the device won't ever work properly if you fail to heed this advice. Did you follow the instructions for adding the device drivers? -- Steve Swift http://www.swiftys.org.uk/swifty.html http://www.ringers.org.uk | Guest
