Canon printer & network

I have just set up a wireless network using a Belkin 54G ADSL wireless
router. I have a new PC which is linked to the LAN port and this machine has
an Epson 1290 connected to it for printing. There are 3 wireless links. All
machines run XP SP2. I have 2 printers connected to one wirless unit and want
to use it only as a print server. It has an old HP950 used for documents, and
a very new Canon i6600D for photo use.
I can connect and print fine to either printer but with the Canon, I have no
print preview. The problem seems to be that whilst full features are
available at the server machine, there is no print preview available on any
other machine, and this would really be useful for photo work. Remote ink
monitor seems OK and so does the toolbox.
Adding the software to the user machine stops printing on the Canon, as the
setup program can never find the printer. The HP is fine providing I have
installed the software on each machine.
Initially I installed the software only on the server, but later added it to
each remote unit. Is this the way to go? Can I make the old PC I use into a
dedicated server with no need for keyboard or mouse? I currently have to
carry a monitor in there to set it up, but leave an old KB & mouse in place.
I have tried installing using the network printer and local port options,
but still have trouble. Any help would be appreciated.
