Can't delete desktop folder - currently in use

Posted: 01-22-2009, 06:09 AM

I have a question regarding folders within Vista. I'm a new user o
Vista

There is an icon on my desktop that is called Documents with the path
C:\Users\User1\Desktop\Document

Not sure how it got there but somehow I must have created it

It is NOT a shortcut - its type is File Folder. It is empty and I wan
to delete it. When I try to delete (right click - delete). I get th
message - "can't delete the folder is in use - close the folder and tr
again"

BUT - the folder is not in use as far as I can tell. No files are ope
within the folder (there arent any) and it is not open within window
explorer

Is it a special system created folder? How, or can, I get rid of it

This folder appears in two places in the hierarchy within window
explorer (the left side bar hierarchy tree). The Hierarchy tree look
like thi

L1- Deskto
L2--UserNam
L3--Documents ****
--Otherfolder
L2 --Publi
--Compute
--Networ
--ControlPane
--Recycle Bi
--Documents ****

Thanks for any help

Somehow while browsing the hard drive you must have dragged that ont
the desktop. To see it removed you would need to move it from th
desktop folder under that account to the correct location

When browsing to the desktop folder under that user account name yo
would highlight the documents folder itself and go to the menu bar>edi
and select the "move to folder" option seen in the dropdown menu. Fro
there you browse to the correct location being a sub folder o
"C:\users>user name" and press the enter or ok button on the prompt

Once moved it should vanish instantly from the desktop itself. Giv
that a try
