Can't find the digital camera in XP (USB)

Hi
I have tryed 2 different cameras and non can be find by
XP. They are both USB cameras and the computer says it is
unknown unit and whant to install it drivers. That should
not be nesesary, and there are no drivers to install in
XP. I have several different unit runing on USB, (mouse,
printer... all working fine) I allso tryed to uninstall
USB system driver. After I have done that the XP on
restart usally find the drivers again and install it, but
not my computer. I had to run system restore, that fixt
the USB system driver and I can still use the mouse and
printer, but still I can't connect my camera. Do I have
to reinstall all XP or is it somthing else I'm missing?

Have you checked the camera manufacturer's website for drivers?

The alternative is to purchase a card reader and the card should show up as
a removable drive.
