can't install XP Pro with geforce2 MX400

Hello,

I am trying to install XP pro on a Asus P4P800 with an IO
Magic geforce2 MX 400 video adaptor. The CD already
contains SP1.

The problem I'm having is while booting for the first time
(after the installation process is complete). Somtimes, I
get a quick blue screen and a reboot, other times XP might
boot, but it complains of a hardware problem with the
MX400. I can get the system to boot into safe mode.
While in safe mode I've tried uninstalling video drivers,
and letting the hardware detect again. I've also tried
updating drivers to 44.03, but nothing seems to help.

I should note: I can get XP to boot when I use a
StandardPC HAL, or an ACPI MultiProcessor HAL (the default
HAL). However, I'm trying to boot an MPM Mutliprocessor
HAL so I can enable Hyperthreading, without enabling
ACPI.

Has anyone ran into any problems installing a fresh XP
with the geforce2 MX400?
