Oddball suggestion but just read an article in the MS Knowledge Base while
checking on something for someone else. If the folder is set to thumbnail
view and if it contains .TIF or .TIFF files that contain many channels,
these files can cause Explorer to crash. Use the command line interface to
move the files to a folder that does not use thumbnail view.

The *.TIF format is not standardized and files can vary in content. In
other words, not all *.TIF files cause this problem.

Thanks for the suggestion Sharon,

The folder contains Corel formatted files and is only
using the folder view, no Thumbnail views.

Still As soon as I open the folder is crashes the
explorer.
