Can't Print Test Page
Posted: 01-05-2007, 07:31 PM
I have administrator rights to the system and the systems have the
latest patches via our WSUS Server.
I installed an HP 4200 as a new TCP/IP Port (static ip address assigned
to the printer). The printer is acting as a print server I guess you
could say. After installing the 4200, I get three windows that pop up
using Notepad:
HPBOID.DLL, HPBPRO.DLL and HPNRA.DLL
These three files are all scrambled.
The "add printer wizard" window hangs and stays frozen.
When attempting to print a test page, I get the error message
immediately upon pressing the print test page button.
Printer Properties window pops up:
"Test page failed to print. Would you like to view the print
troubleshooter for assistance?"
If I use MS Word and print, then the printing appears to be normal.
However the installation process is not fun and neither is the print
test page function.
By the way, this test page works via TCP/IP Printing on 2000 and other
XP systems to this same printer. I have un-installed the print driver,
deleted the port, re-created it and I receive the same issue. I even
spoke with HP who had me try some steps but found nothing. I have
tried using the PS, PCL 6 and PCL 5 drivers. All have the same
result. However when I use the Universal HP Printer drivers, - then it
is fine. Also when I use the native drivers for an HP 4000 then the
test page works fine.
If anyone has some suggestions, I would be willing to try them.
Thanks
