Are you current on your Windows Critical Updates? If not, you need to click
on your Windows Update icon or go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and
let it scan your system. Download all Critical Updates. When it is
finished, it will likely ask you to reboot. Do so and then repeat the
process untill there are no more to install. If you haven't already, you
should go to your start menu and click on My Computer and in the top left
corner click on something like View System Information. Click on the
Automatic Updates tab and select an option that works best for you.
Preferably you would like to automatically download and install updates at a
specific time, but it has to be a time that your system is always on and
connected to the net. Second preference would be to automatically download
and then notify you to install. Do not ignore these notices forever like so
many do. These updates are important to the safe and proper operation of
your computer.
If this problem is just on one IE window from time to time, that is somewhat
normal as unscrupulous web programmers try to take more control of your
machine while you visit their site. Most sites that do that to me, I
program them as Restricted Sites as who knows what they are trying to do.
One thing that you should be able to do to terminate these windows is to hit
Control-Alt-Delete and hit Task Manager. Find the program window that you
want to close and click on it to select it. Then hit end task and it should
close.
Good Luck!
