Can't "un" mute the volume control

Posted: 07-22-2003, 03:54 AM
New install of XP Home on a custom built box with a
SoundBlaster 5.1 Value card. I get no sound and the
volume icon on the tray shows a little circle with a
slash through (the infamous International "no" symbol")
and I can't remove the check mark from the mute slection
either in the regular controls or when I drill down to
speakers and sound cards, etc.

Search the knowledge base and the Internet. No go.
