Can't upgrade IBM T20 from Windows 2000 to XP Pro

I've been trying to upgrade the IBM T-20 Model 41U and have had no
success. I start the process and when I'm at 32min left in the upgrade
process I get Delete Errors for a bunch of files. I only get Retry
(which doesn't work) and Cancel (which you have to continue with out
deleting the file. After about 15-20 files of this Windows continues
to load and I get Copy errors for a bunch of files. I only get Retry
(which doesn't work) and Cancel (which you have to continue without
coping the file.) after about 15-20 files of this Windows continues
and reboots. And leaves me at a black screen that will not response to
any key action. Maybe someone has experienced this phenomenon and can
shed some light on this for me. Thanks
