The Buslink tech support guy seems to think I need
to "rid the [installed programs] registry of corrupted
entries." Here's the whole story anyway:
I'm having difficulty uninstalling the old (XP
incompatible) driver for my Buslink RW446 USB CD-RW
Drive. I recently updated from Windows 2000 to XP. At the
beginning of the upgrade, I got a message saying the
driver was incompatible with the new OS. I've tried to
uninstall the old driver multiple times, before and after
the upgrade as well as by installing the new driver from
Buslink's web site. I think the very first time there was
an error saying that the installation log could not be
found. Every time since then, the computer acts like the
uninstall works, then wants to reboot the
computer. "Buslink Optical Controller" is listed under
currently installed programs, but I cannot find anything
with that title when I search the hard drive. The device
does not show up as installed, so driver rollback is not
an option.
Thanks!
