Capture from MiniDV hangs after more than about 500 MB

Posted: 05-15-2006, 05:26 PM
WMM 2.1, Pentium 4 at 3.0 Ghz, 2.5 GB RAM, Sony MiniDV cam with Firewire,
caputing to a 160 GB USB2 external HD with 90% free space.

When I capture video, the capture window hangs after capturing more than 500
MB of video. When this happens, I have to end the MM task. I defragged both
the system and external HDs and stopped all other apps such as antivirus,
etc. Has anyone else seen this problem? My next thought is to install an
internal hard drive and capture to that.

check the Policy for the drive and change it to 'Performance' if it's not
set that way. See the External Hard Drive section of my Setup Movie Maker >
Hardware page.
