Catch 22

I have VPC 7 and want to add SP1

To add the service pack VPC has to be not running, but the file to update is
an "exe" file which OSX does not recognize. It tries to run it in Windows
media player.

If you bought Virtual PC 7 with Windows XP it has SP2, and there isn't a
way to install\go back to just having SP1.

And who says you cannot have Virtual PC running when applying the
update? It's like telling a PC user to turn off their PC and double
click on the EXE. It doesn't make sense.

Just have it somewhere in your Windows desktop and double click it and
it will install the patch without a problem. It might take some time to
install so if I were you before installing, disable any screen savers in
Windows XP as well to lessen the chance of corruption.

There is no catch 22.

Windows service packs need to be applied inside of Windows while its
running. The .exe is an executable that runs in Windows.

I think you're confusing the VPC 7.0.1 update with a Windows Service
Pack. If you want to update from VPC 7 to 7.0.1 you must shutdown
Windows, but thats not service pack its an update.

If you're trying to install VPC 2004 SP1, that is for Virtual PC for
Windows, not VPC7 Mac.

VPC 2004 for is for Windows, not the Mac. Unless you have a PC
running Windows 2000 or Windows XP you can't use VPC 2004 or the
service pack for VPC 2004.

Virtual PC 7.0.1 is the most recent Mac version.
The updater for VPC 7.0.0. is here:
