cd duplication help

Posted: 09-27-2003, 03:48 AM

Hiya,

Hey, I'm trying to copy my matlab cd and disk copy always crashes when
trying to make a disk image. Um, does anyone know of a cd copy utility
for osX that'll copy just about anything? I'm pretty sure matlab is
copy-protected, but dang if I don't want my one and only
must-have-cd-in-drive-or-you're-hosed cd to get scratched up and won't
mount and I'll be stuck solving all this stuff by hand and pulling my hair
out and screaming at inanimate objects while my profs are maniacally
laughing at...er...um...i'm ranting again...

anyway, please lemme know! thanks, eh!

You might try XCDRoast; it's worked for me.

This is just a gui front-end to other utilities that do the real work.

I don't know what xcdroast uses for reading cd data in osx, but a
utility that works very well for both reading and writing is cdrdao.
The only limitation with this is that it can only communicate with cd
recorders, even for reading. So to copy a cd, either you need two
recorders, or you need one recorder and enough disk space to hold an
intermediate image file. But I can almost guarantee the OP that
cdrdao can do what he wants. I've never seen it fail.
