CD error message re drivers

Posted: 12-19-2003, 01:55 AM
I recently got a new hard drive. I tried to install the
Easy CD software that was on the previous hard drive (both
with XP Home) but for some reason it wouldn't accept it. I
bought the newer version and that installed fine and I
tried a test burn without difficulty. My problem is that
when I boot up, I get an error message popup in the sys.
tray that says "CD Recording Software will cause Windows
to become unstable. Windows has prevented these drivers
from loading." I tried removing the program and
reinstalling but it is still there.

I ran a registry cleaning program and it said a program
listing I could delete was "HighMAT Extension to XP CD
Writing Wizard" which I tried but the same error showed
up. (Because of this, I did a sys. restore to before I
took it out to replace it.) Norton Disk Doctor didn't
solve the problem either.

I followed the instructions on MS's site as to what to do
when this error comes up. The 2 system files it mentioned
I did not find on my computer but there was one change I
made in the registry as it instructed. Still no removal
of the error message.

It appears I am having some programs hangup because of
this and would like to resolve it without having to
reinstall XP or reformat. Any suggestions welcomed!

You need to go to Roxio's website (www.roxio.com) who make EZCD Creator and
download their updates. It is a known problem with v5.0 and XP... and
always has been since XP was released. They did fix it... but you need to
get the updates yourself.

Try:
I had the same message and followed the below instructions
and the message stopped. Double check the instructions.
