CD for automatic repair

Posted: 01-18-2005, 05:51 AM
Hi all,
Just want to confirm the following scenario.
I have a PC installed through RIS created with a slipstreamed XP+SP1 CD and
then patched to SP2.
Now if I want to perform the automatic repair (not Recovery Concole) using a
CD, which CD should I boot up the PC from? Is it the original slipstreamed
XP+SP1 CD or a newly created slipstreamed XP+SP2 CD?
Thanks a lot.

Newly created with SP2. Using the CD with SP1 would require the
reapplication of SP2. The results would have less chance of conflict with a
repair using the same media as the SP2 currently installed. Any post SP2
critical updates can also be added to the new slipstreamed media.
When doing any procedure as intensive as a repair install, make sure you
have adequately backed up data that cannot be replaced.
