CD ROM Driver

My computer worked fine for about 8 mo., then it started
crashing, doing the auto reporting, etc. Device driver
errors abounded. Now my CDRom has quit working, and I
cannot find the driver software for it. When I go to
properties via the hardware mgr. it shows the driver as a
MS product. Where do I have to go to download &
reinstall the driver? (The mfg. of the PC verified the
proper operation of the device.) XP is starting to be a
pain in the rear....

CD rom driver

My computer recently gave me the error message that my
drivers for both my burner and dvd rom drive are
corrupt. I tried to follow the instructions on the
microsoft website and now the corrupt drivers are no
longer there and the device still does not work. I ahve
no idea what is going on with the devices. Is there
anyway that I can get the drivers without reinstalling XP?

Hey Chris, have you had any successes with your problem?
I've been having the same trouble with my cd burner, all
of a sudden stop burning and reading... I've been having
the message: "Real player could not locate a CD burner on
your computer... if you have a CD burner, please ensure
that it is properly installed"... or when ever I try a
DVD, it says; "No CD drive detected".
Well, it looks like my drive died, but if you have any
other information about it, please let me know. Thank you
in advance.
