CDRW

Posted: 11-13-2003, 12:07 AM
I've installed a new 52x24x52 CDRW drive. The
manufacturer is AOpen and no driver is apparently
required for XP. I have installed and uninstalled several
times. The system finds the h/w OK, but indicates that
the driver (CDROM.sys??) is missing or corrupt (Code 39).
The CDROM.sys version is 5.1.2535.0 Any suggestions?

CDROM.SYS is a Microsoft generic CDRom driver, I think this driver may not be a
perfect match for your drive. You might want to use its own driver to see if
that will solve your problem.

Please Check the following Knowledge Base Article:

Root cause may not be the same but the fix might resolve the issue.
