I have a new ASUS P4P800 Deluxe system (w/onboard audio chipset) that is
exhibiting an annoying trait - audio CDs and mp3s skip at least once per
track. I've read around and found this is a somewhat common issue. One
fix is supposed to be to turn off digital audio for the CD player, but
that hasn't made an impact (anyways the mp3 files are running from the
HDD where the CD player isn't involved). This is the latest ver of the
Windows Media Player running on Windows XP. I'm starting to suspect that
something is going on with the SoundMax software that is loaded at
startup. The SoundMax stuff came with the P4P800 motherboard and I know
little about it. Can anyone shed light on what the issue may be here?
