Change default boot?

Posted: 07-15-2006, 12:45 AM
On a machine running XP I installed a separate drive and installed Vista on
that drive. The drive failed. Now, every reboot it tries to access the
missing drive. How do I edit the boot? Do I need to fixmbr or fixboot in
restore mode? Or is their a file I can edit. I know boot.ini is gone.

Thanks

Dave

If it is trying to find Vista, download VistaBoot Pro and use it to delete
the dead entry from the boot options menu. When the entries are down to one
the menu will no longer appear.

Thank you very much! I can't say it helped yet (in use) but I appreciate
the quick reply and advice. I'll post back with results.

There is also a guide with VBP 2 you might have seen which is pretty
helpful:
