Change Printer Default Settings

Posted: 08-10-2006, 02:19 AM
XP is still quite to this old 98'er. I really would like to change the
printer default setting from Normal to Draft as I did in my 98. So far, in
Settings - Control Panel - Printers and Faxes - double click my printer -
select printer drop down menu - properties - Advanced tab - select Printing
Defaults - Paper/Quality tab - select Draft - Apply - OK. No matter how many
times I try this, the change doesn't appear to change the default. The change
only lasts through the next print job. What am I doing wrong? All ideas,
comments, and suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, K.

Change the User Settings on the General tab (Print Preferences). The
Advanced Tab will set the User Settings the first time only. Once you print
the first job, only new connections to this printer will pick up the
Printing Defaults

Thank You Alan. Apparently I'm not doing something properly. When I go to the
General tab in the Printer Properties window, there is no place to change the
setting from normal to draft, or change any default settings of any kind. The
only place that offers such a change is in the Printing Preferences window,
on the Paper/Quality tab. But in the grand scheme of things it really doesn't
matter any more because the print setting are now holding in Draft where I
want them. I have no idea why it has changed but I am glad it has. If it ever
decides to chang back, I may come visit you again. Thanks, K.
