was the welcome screen and the other was the password box/form. When I
install Vista, the default is the welcome screen. How do I change it to the
log in box?

At least in beta 2, Windows Vista does not make changing this setting easy.Here's one way to do it:
- Click Start
- Type: control userpasswords2
- Press enter
- If asked for permission, click Continue
- Click the Advanced tab
- Check Require users to press Ctrl+Alt+Delete

That doesn't help anymore! You still have to click your name and enter thepassword (Welcome-screen).

Has anyone yet found an answer to this? I too would like to be able todisable showing valid usernames in the welcome screen (and instead show only
a username/password prompt).
We're running Vista Business Ed. in an 2003 AD environment. Thanks much.

Short answer: Look in Local Security Policy (Local Policies -> Security
Options) for Interactive Logon. One of these lines has "Do not display last
username". There're also other useful options here regarding logon screens.
