On a client XP Pro. machine I have only one network card.
Generated configuration has this:
Local Area Connection using this NIC.
Network Bridge using Local Area Connection .
1394 Connection 3 using 1394 Net Adapter
In Device Manager I can also see MAC Bridge Miniport.
Biding is strange. For LAC some bindings are marked but
all is grayed. Network Bridge is bound to everything. 1394
is not bound at all.
My questions are:
1.Do I need the Bridge?
2.What is 1394 (I don't have any card for this. It only
could be on chipset)?
3.Machine shares files. How to prevent sharing to be
exposed on TCP/IP?
(previously this machine run Win98. NIC was bound to
TCP/IP and NetBEUI. TCP/IP had NetBIOS disabled. NetBEUI
was bound to Microsoft client and File share. This
configuration made machine invisible to outside world and
shared files perfect. It also worked perfect as a client
to ICS)
Thank you.
