Clipboard and Remote Desktop

Generally I have noticed that you can highlight some text and copy and paste
between toe sessions (host and Remote). but this is not the case when you
copy a whole file for example from windows explorer. I am assuming that when
one clicks on a file and says copy the copy is on the remote machines not the
host machine, where as copying text from the screen will always copy to the
host machine clipboard
make sense?
