CMOS and log in problem

Posted: 07-11-2003, 03:28 PM
Hi - I've confirmed I have a dead CMOS battery on my
notebook and I'm getting a new one sent but the real
problem is this. I have Admin permissions for my user
name for both the local machine login and for my domain
account login. Intermittently after I have to do a
reboot, I can not log in to either the local machine nor
to the network with a valid network connection and
account and domain permissions. I get completely locked
out of XP. If I shutdown, pull my primary battery and
then reboot, sometimes I can then log in and sometimes
not. It's random. It's as though my cached credentials
are lost and no longer on my hdd.

Appreciate any insights on how to fix this without
rebuilding my system.
-Chris
