Compact Flash drive has disappeared

Woody, look on your Software Disk that came with the Computer for drivers
for the Flash Drive. You may just have to
reinstall it. If it's a USB Device rt click on MyComputer>Select
Prop>Hardware>Device Manager. See if there's any
yellow marks next to any of the USB Controllers. If yes then Uninstall
them and let WinXP reinstall on next startup.

Flash drive that is used to downolad photos from a memory card.

launched and was trying to access the drive that was empty. The system
asked me to "insert a disk or cancel", but pressing cancel did not work and
the display just froze. After a while I decide to reboot manually the
computer, and it took 5 minutes, instead of the usual few seconds.
