Complete Comuter restore

Complete computer restore rocks my socks off.
Earlier, as an "I'll try this feature out!" idea, I did a complete C:
backup. Later I loaded anti-virus and such. Well, shortly after, on MySpace,
I came to a site that I wasn't sure about the software it told me to load. It
ended up having a grabber in the program, as well as adware. (you know, teach
you a leson so you will buy their anti-virus"
Well, I figured out it was supposed to just infect you enough to where you
know you have a virus and have to buy their product. Well, I can say that my
anti-virus cought it a little late. OOPS! But defender cought it. Sadly,
defender stopped it from loading at start-up, which locked up explorer and it
stayed in that cycle, loading, faulting, and shutting down Windows explorer.
I can't say anything bad about it because defender was doing exactly what it
was supposed to do. So, I started to re-load windows then though "Hmmm,
Repair.."
I did a complete computer restore from my earlier back up. Thank God! it
saved me a lot of time re-loading windows and all the programs I had loaded
before the back-up. Now all I have to do is re-load anti-virus. But this
time, I think I will choose another brand.
The moral of this story is:
Back that thang up!
And that Complete Computer Restore rocks!

What AV did you have loaded? It's not necessarily the fault of the AV
program - if this was non viral malware which sounds like it is.

On what media was the original backup done?

all, it is fre for a year.

One of the developers asked me to point out that an offline System Restore
would've also worked. By "offline," we mean to boot to the DVD and then
choose System Restore as the repair option.
