CompletePC Error: Incorrect Function 0x80070001

Posted: 04-05-2007, 09:12 AM
Just tried to make a backup using CompletePC Backup. It has always worked
fine before; this time it failed right at the end with the error:

Backup Failed: Incorrect Function 0x80070001

What is this all about?

Furthermore, it says to try again after resolving the issue. No really?
Since the error message is pretty well useless in telling me what the issue
is; how can I fix it?

Nigel, in past cases I've looked at, this error code indicates that the EISA
Configuration partition is marked as Active. Can you go to Disk Management
and check whether this is the case?

Jill

Thanks for responding. The disk is an USB external hard drive. I rebooted
the notebook and tried the backup again, and this time it completed OK, so
whatever was confusing the backup program cleared itself. However, I might
wish for a more user friendly error message to narrow the problem down. This
is the only time I have had this error, and have been using the same drive
and backup method since beta-Vista last year without incident.
