Computer Will not go to sleep

Asus P5N32-E SLI Plus w/ latest non-beta BIOS 0501, Intel E6600 Dual Core,
Corsiar 2gig dual channel, Geforce 8800 GTX, USB Mouse, PS2 Keyboard, Vista
Ultimate 32 bit.

I've seen some posts about this but nothing really answered my question. I
have a problem with Vista and power management. My Bios settings are set to
S1+S3 and windows power management is on but my PC will not go to sleep. The
monitor and hard drives do go to sleep however and wake up properly when I
move the mouse or use the keyboard. If I tell my PC to sleep through the
start menu it does but then I can't wake it up properly. I think my PC wakes
up but not my monitor. I saw something about voltages screwing things up with
the USB mouse or PS2 keyboard so I tried disabling them from being able to
wake up the PC but it had no effect, the PC still would not sleep. My wife's
PC has an AMD FX-57 and an Asus A8N SLI Deluxe mobo and power management
functions work perfectly on hers! I even double-checked and compared power
management settings to see if I was missing something. Any advice here?

In the BIOS power menu, set suspend mode to AUTO, set ACPI 2.0 support to
NO.

Well, my BIOS power managment setting options are as follows:

ACPI Suspend type: S1,S3, S1+S3 there is no "AUTO" option.

- There is no option to set ACPI 2.0 to no
All I have is ACPI APIC Support set to "Enabled" with no way to change it.

Thxs for your suggestions but I don't have those options unless it is
somewhere else in BIOS or Windows I don't know about.

I bought a dell that came with Vista home premium.
I have been experiencing the same kind of problems.
When my computer goes to sleep, it will not wake up. I have to manually
shut off the computer and restart. I was thinking it had something to do
with compatibility issues between the video driver and vista, but I will try
looking at bios options.

Has anyone come up with a solution? This seems to be a very hard problem to
solve. I have yet to find an answer on any forum. I can put my PC to sleep
manually but it will not wake up if I do, I have to reboot. It will not go to
sleep automatically at all. None of the suggestions here worked or were
applicable.

There are two hotfixes I've read about that may resolve the problem. I'm
going to try installing these tonight.

When I built my Intel D975XBX2 based system in Feb with Vista home premium, I
had a problem with getting a BSD when I tried to wake from sleep. The
trouble turned out to be the driver for the Sigmatel audio codec on the mobo,
and once I updated it I have had no more problems. Also, I note the
Microsoft solution in one of the replies deals with NVidia drivers, so I
would suspect your problem may be driver related.

Interesting about the drivers. The two hotfixes I mentioned above didn't
work, but I have found that if I turn off the wireless card switch on the
front of my X60 Tablet, the system will sleep and awake quite a few times.
BUT other hardware stops working (for example, the fingerprint reader gets
confused after the second wake up and stays powered off). After about two
days of sleeping and waking, I guess all the other hardware gets confused and
I finally have to reboot. Guess there are still plenty of driver issues for
Vista. I hear that SP1 for Vista goes into beta in a couple of weeks, with a
target of this Fall for release. We'll see if this corrects these
problems.....
