CONEXTANT AUDIO IN HP DV6000SE NOT WORKING

the other week my laptop just crapped out and stopped playing sound through
the speakers, and now the 2 headphone jacks in front are both only playing
about 25% but only in the right headphone. I've contacted HP support and what
they told me was the right thing to do but it still didn't fix the problem. I
had to uninstall my audio driver then reinstall it, then update it again, but
no fix. I tried my friends' USB headphones in my comp and that played sound
perfectly. Going to the Conextant Audio website didn't help either. Can
anybody help me with this problem, i need it fixed soon so i can use this on
my trip next week.
