connecting to a vista computer on home network

Posted: 02-05-2009, 04:34 AM

Just installed Vista x64 on my HTPC and now I am trying to set up hom
network to connect two or my laptops to a network printer, which i
connected to the HTPC and now running x64, and of course there is
problem
Both of my laptops can see each other, no problem, and they can see m
HTPC on my Workgroup, but they cannot get in to it. And of course, the
don’t see the printer
The HTPC itself can see everything (both laptops) and folders on there
no problem
I have switched on all possible settings in Vista Network menu
Restarted…. Few times… no difference…
Any idea what can be done

I would check the firewall first. Do you have 3rd party security software?
Or try clean boot for troubleshooting.

If you have Password protection turned on in Network and Sharing, you will
need to set up User Accounts on the Vista for each XP machine for them to be
able to share Vista printer and folders.
