I have borrowed a 3com access point (3CRWE747A-E1) and a 3com PCMCIA
nic (3CRWE737A-E1) from work, just to play around with a wireless
network at home. At work the two see each other fine, but at home it
is a different story.
Windows XP does not detect any available wireless networks. However,
using Network Stumbler shows an active AP with strong signal strength
(this is with the AP sat next to the laptop). I have tried updating
the Windows drivers for the card but to no avail. Looking at various
PDFs on the 3com site I should be able to access advanced wireless
options through the configure option on the wireless connection at
Network Connections, but I can not find this.
I can telnet into the AP and can ping it through a wired PC. I have
reset the AP to factory settings but still XP will not acknowledge an
available network.
Any ideas on any config I am missing? Any help would be greatly
appreciated.
Cheers
Chris
