Default Continuously swapping between wireless networks

Is there a way to tell Windows it should only connect to preferred networks,
like you can in XP?

Although I have an excelent connection to my own (secured) wireless access
point, Windows keeps swapping to other non secured networks.

I notice this because I have Windows Live OneCare as security software and
it's telling me every 15 seconds that it has changed my protection level. It
changes to restricted when connecting to an unsecured network and back to
automatic when reconecting to my own network. This is very annoying.

in the network and sharing center, manage wireless networks, what is
listed? have you left the default SSID name in place and not changed
it? you should specify a unique name and remove all the unwanted
network names (right click, remove)

Hello Barb, thank you for your reply.

There is only one network (mine) and it has its original name. The name is
the same as the SSID. I have also tried to add the unwanted network and
checked tits 'Connect to a more preferred network if available' box, but that
didn't help. So I removed it again.

Cordially,
Maarten.
