control id

i installed service pack 2 and had numerous problems. i
uninstalled sp2 and now my lexmark printer has problems.
i contacted lexmark and am told the problem is that thare
are remains of sp2 on my pc. i keep getting the error
that the control id is not found therefore i cannot use
my printer.
how do i solve this problem please?

Do you have a "Restore point" available under System Restore for a time
before the install of SP2? If so, use that and see if it fixes the
problem.

If no joy, try removing the printer drivers using Control Panel
Printers and faxes Delete this printer. Check Lexmark's www site
for a utility to remove drivers and use that next. Restart the computer
and install the latest drivers from Lexmark according to the
instructions.

Thanx but it still did not work. I get the screen to verify cartridges etc
but then same problem that there is a problem with the printer. stop printer,
check usb connections etc.
