converting mpeg files to other formats

I am new to computers so if any one can help it would be great
I have music files on my system saved as mpeg, I want to burn this files to disk but my cd player won't play mpeg files. how do I get around this. I have roxio creater but that does not reconise this files either

MPeg files are movie files with MP3 sound encoded within them. There are many applications/programs that can extract the sound track and convert them to MP3/music files. Go to below website, and type convert MPeg to MP3 in the Search block and you'll find dozens of freeware and shareware programs to download
